2017 Call for Entries
Exposing Excellence In Concrete 

                                              

Entry Deadline:  April 26, 2017 

We are pleased to announce the 2017 Exposing Excellence In Concrete Award program which honors the visions of some of the most innovative concrete projects in our region.  Entries will be juried by a distinguished panel of professionals.  Awards will be awarded for First place in each category with an Overall Top Project announced.  The Overall Top Project WINNER will be entered into the International Competition with ACI for the fall of 2018 Convention.

Award Dinner:  May 18, 2017 at Maggiano's Tsyon's Corner


EligibilityProjects must be substantially completed between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2016.  Project must be located in the following areas:  Washington DC, Alexandria, Arlington, Montgomery, Fairfax, Prince George's, Prince William and Loudoun Counties

Categories:  

Transportation:  Tunnels, Roads, Bridges, Railway and Airport

Government:  City, State, Federal Projects

Public Works:  Water resources, marine structures, Infrastructure

Repair and Restoration:  New and Existing construction  

Tilt Up Buildings  - Commercial or Government

Decorative Concrete: Interior and Exterior flatwork, Walls, furnishings

Commercial Mid to High Rise - Office, Hotel, Schools

Residential Mid to High Rise - Multi Family or Dormitory


 

SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS FOR 2017

 All entries must be submitted electronically to acincc@outlook.com.   Other formats will not be accepted.  All entries must be submitted by April 26, 2017 to be considered in this years Competition.

Please Submit the Project Team in PDF format to include:  Company Name and Contact Name, Address, Phone, Email for each of the following:  Owner, Contractor, Architect, Engineer, Concrete Contractor, Concrete Supplier
The entry must highlight the innovative use of concrete as a principal construction element.  The entry must also demonstrate creativity and innovation in the application of concrete technology.  A minimum of four to a maximum of eight photos shall be submitted with each entry. In lieu of one of the photos, the entry may include a 90-second time-lapse video. No animations will be accepted. Concrete should be featured in some of the photos and photos of construction of concrete are also encouraged. 

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

Architectural merit  Engineering merit  Creativity  Innovative construction techniques or solutions  Innovative use of materials  Ingenuity  Sustainability and resilience  Functionality and end use suitability

Concrete Description
Each entry must submit a 500-word description of how concrete was featured in the project. It should also cover the complexity and uniqueness of the project and might include information such as:
 Special features of the concrete  Degree of difficulty  Project challenges  Ecological & environmental factors  Problem solving     Design Challenges
