NCC ACI Presents "Structural Strengthening"

Tuesday March 12, 2019

Maggiano's Little Italy Tyson's Corner

Speaker:  Ian Wienholt

Modifying and Strengthening

New & Existing Concrete Structures

The topic of Strengthening is explored and explained in a straightforward and non- technical manner. Attendees will leave with an understanding of how reinforced concrete structures are designed and built and how they can be successfully repaired and modified. They will be able to recognize basic signs of distress as well as specific structural “do’s and don’ts”. Our goal is to help attendees identify and avoid structural problems before they occur.

Topics Include:

  • Basic Mechanics of Reinforced Concrete
  • Types of Loads
  • Reinforced Concrete Basics
  • Carbon Fiber Strengthening
  • Structural Overloads and Failures
  • Cutting, Coring, and Drilling
  • Creating New PT Slab Openings
  • Retrofit PT Strengthening
