ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1 - August 1, 2020 - AM Session

Registration

  • This is both the written and performance tests for those who currently hold a valid FG1 Certification. Proof of eligibility for re-certification is required.
  • This is for those who have taken but failed the written test for FG1 certification. This can be taken for up to one year from the date of the first failed exam.

ACI Concrete Field Grade 1 Testing Technician Certification

This program consists of a 2-hour review session starting at 7:30 AM followed by the 1-hour written exam and 2 hours for the performance (hands-on) exam. The package price includes the review and hands-on practice, the exams, all certification fees and the ACI workbook for this program. 

Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I is an individual who has demonstrated the knowledge and ability to properly perform and record the results of seven basic field tests on freshly mixed concrete.

Scope and Knowledge

The program requires a working knowledge of the following ASTM test methods and practices.

  •      C1064/C1064M - Temperature of Freshly Mixed Hydraulic-Cement Concrete
  •      C172 - Sampling Freshly Mixed Concrete
  •      C143/C143M - Slump of Hydraulic-Cement Concrete
  •      C138/C138M - Density (Unit Weight), Yield, and Air Content (Gravimetric) of Concrete
  •      C231 - Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Pressure Method
  •      C173/C173M - Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by the Volumetric Method
  •      C31/C31M - Making and Curing Concrete Test Specimens in the Field

Please review the following guidelines for the day of the exam:

  • If you are sick, showing signs of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19, we would ask you to not attend the exam and you will be given a refund so long as 24hr advance notice is provided. Refunds will not be offered for other circumstances.
  • Non-contact temperature checks will be performed by the NCCACI Staff at Check-In. If temperature is at or above 100.4°F, the person will be asked to leave and no refund will be provided.
  • Each registrant will sit at their own table during the written exam.
  • Masks will be required to be worn the entire time during the review and exam.
  • Equipment will be sprayed down with soapy water periodically by staff.
  • 6' Social Distancing is to be maintained during the review and exam.
  • Hand sanitizer will be present at the Check-In table.
  • NCCACI Staff will sign you in at Check-In instead of sharing pens to sign in.
  • Please bring your own pencil and calculator and do not share them.
  • Wear appropriate attire for the practical exam (i.e. closed-toed shoes/boots, long pants, shirts with sleeves, safety glasses, gloves). The practical exam is performed with concrete, so wear typical work clothes / clothes that can get dirty.

ACI Certification programs are ADA compliant.

Individuals with disabilities requiring special accommodations must contact the ACI Certification Department for further information on how to proceed.
