Update on ACI 305 “Hot Weather Concreting” and its use in Mass Concrete

Presentation will be about Weather Concrete that was published in 2020 and  the environmental factors such as high ambient temperature, low humidity and high wind and their effect on concrete properties and the construction operations of mixing, transporting and placing concrete during warmer temperatures. The speaker will also highlight common misperceptions and mistakes made when placing concrete in adverse conditions. 


PHILIP BRANDT is Vice President of the National Business Development Group for The Euclid Chemical Company, Cleveland, Ohio. A thirty-five-year veteran of the construction industry, Mr. Brandt’s experience includes quality control of ready-mix concrete, field engineering and quality control of concrete in commercial construction, material sales, technical service, and repair of existing concrete structures. 

Mr. Brandt is a “Fellow” of the institute. He is the current secretary of ACI 360, “Design of Slabs on Ground,” a voting member of ACI 302, “Guide for Concrete Floor Construction” and past chairman of ACI 305, “Hot Weather Concreting.” During Mr. Brandt’s role as chairman of ACI 305, the committee produced the very first ACI specification for Hot Weather Concreting. 

Mr. Brandt holds a Degree in Construction Engineering and attended Harvard Executive Business School for “Young Potentials.”
