Description:
The National Veterans Memorial and Museum (NVMM) will be a place where the stories of veterans and their families will be told together. The NVMM is not service specific and will represent all branches of the armed forces. NVMM will be the one place where history and current events will combine in one unique structure on the banks of the Scioto River in Columbus, Ohio. This presentation will cover the planning and construction of the concrete frame for this unique structure. Featured challenges of the project include: Architectural off the Form Concrete, building a concrete frame with no dimensions and building a complex concrete structure with curved walls and sloping voids.

Mike Scheinder
Mike Schneider is President of Michael Schneider Consulting, LLC. He began his 45-year career at Baker Concrete as a Project Manager in 1978 and recently retired in 2023 as Senior Vice President and Chief People Officer. He has been involved in a multitude of projects ranging from high-rise structures to manufacturing facilities to mainline concrete paving.
Mike Schneider is committed to eliminating all worker injuries on the jobsite. He is a charter member of the Incident and Injury Free Executive Forum, which is dedicated to promoting worker safety in the construction industry. Most recently, Mike has been helping create awareness about the mental health crisis in construction and is currently serving on the Education and Pathway Committees for Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention (CIASP). An avid industry volunteer, Schneider has served as Chairman of the National Steering Committee for the Construction Industry Management Program (CIM), been active in the American Society of Concrete Contractors (ASCC) for the past 27 years, serving as President from 2005-2006 and served on the ASCC Research and Education Foundation. He is an active member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI), serving as President 2016-2017, and the current Chair of the ACI Foundation (ACIF) and PRO (ACI Center of Excellence for Advancing Productivity) and on the Board of Directors for NEU (ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete).
