NCCACI Presents

"Wet-Weather Strategies for Handling Concrete Placements Exposed To Rain"

Tuesday June 23, 2020

Go-To-Meeting Webinar

Speaker:  Ronald L. Kozikowski, P.E.

Abstract:

Whether you are an owner, contractor, or engineer, there is a good chance you’ve had to deal with a concrete placement exposed to rain. Scheduling demands often force contractors to work with rain events rather than cancel placements. If a rain event occurs during a placement, concrete can still be placed safely if the rain event is handled properly. This presentation will discuss how different stages of placing and finishing are affected by a rain event and what preventative actions/options are available to contractors at each stage. ACI 301 “Specifications for Structural Concrete” references the development of a wet-weather plan; however, this is rarely known or utilized. We will discuss the benefits of a wet-weather plan and what one should include. Repair options will also be covered for those placements that have been negatively affected by rain.
